Mary Haggie is a construction lawyer. She has acted for clients in multiple adjudications and debt recovery proceedings under the Construction Contracts Act 2002, and she advises clients on all aspects of the Act.

Mary assists clients to resolve construction disputes quickly and efficiently by direct discussion, negotiation or mediation. She has also acted for clients in many High Court cases involving defective buildings, and disputes regarding payments, variations, delays, earthquake strengthening and asbestos.

Mary also provides advice to parties at the front end of construction projects, including the appropriate procurement models, project structures and tendering. She drafts construction contracts, consultant conditions of contract, development agreements, funding agreements and bonds. She is highly experienced with all New Zealand’s standard form construction contracts, including NZS 3910:2013, NZS 3916:2013 and NZIA contracts.

Mary worked in Kensington Swan’s construction law team from 2000 – 2016 and was a partner from 2007 to 2016.
